I am not sure what you mean by using them for medicines.
Proteins are important as sources of amino acids that the body uses to build and repair tissue. When the body needs energy, it can break proteins down to glucose, which is then used for energy.
If too many proteins are eaten, and the body does not need them for building and repairing tissue, they are broken down in the liver, the nitrogen is taken off and sent to the kidneys for elimination, and the part that is left is turned to fat and then stored.
