Why is the new (stock) Honda Odessey so fast?
160 + is top reported speed so far, but its a van....

Although people complain about poor gas mileage, what they really want is more power. Manufacturers have been giving us more power for years and improving gas mileage has been a distant second.
Are you sure about the speed of that van? 160 mph implies all sorts of things, such as high-performance tires. I wouldn't want to drive a minivan 160 mph on S-rated tires!

The stock engine in the van is a detuned Accord engine. Those can get up to the 160 range, minus the governer limiting it.

That would be a 10-page essay answer if you asked the engineers at Honda :) I guess you're getting the value for your money, use it wisely!

Damn. Last time I checked, the Ody was governor limited to 117 mph. 160 mph doesn't sound entirely stock.

They wound it too tight to get this so soccar moms would quit moving on to the ford expedition and excursion for more power. Soccar moms have the need - the need for speed. lol
