Why can't we have a foot bridge over the River Mersey ?

If we go to Liverpool (England) there are only 2 options to get home i.e.

Drive through the tunnel,

Travel by train.

It would be nice to be able to stroll over at leisure and not worry about getting taxi's on New Year's Eve for instance.

Come on, you know the government is far too cheap for that. In Scotland, we're not even getting a new Forth Bridge (the current one is on its last legs) until it probably falls into the river. The government whinges about people driving too much yet they won't give people provisions to walk in safety but that's the UK for you!

haha, it would be nice, but you would properly get blown off the bridge by stong winds!
