What's the best exercise I can do to shift what looks like a developing beer belly?

    Pilates. You should see results within 2-3 weeks.

  • A beer belly is the result of too much high glycemic index (GI) foods/drinks. Of all the sugars, only maltose (the sugar in beer) is more effective than sucrose (white sugar) at causing the pancreas to release insulin.

    This insulin, in turn, causes the liver to stop burning fat for energy and to start storing excess sugar as fat. You do not get a beer belly from high fat foods - only high SUGAR ones!

    A beer belly is therefore a sign that your body is either getting far too much sugary foods/drinks or that it is glucose intolerant - the first step on the slippery slope to diabetes.

    The long-term answer is therefore to reduce the amount of high GI foods/drinks in your diet and to help your body deal better with the sugars it receives. Of course, excercise etc will do no harm in burning up some of the excess sugars for you as well as stimulating the immune system and numerous other health benefits.

    The supplement chromium picolinate has been used by many to help moderate the body's glycemic response and can be helpful in smoothing the peaks and troughs in blood sugar that follow high GI food consumption and are a sign of high insulin secretion.

    Nothing, however is better than reducing your alcohol (and especially beer) consumption to reduce a beer-gut.

    I really dont noe but i tried this really wired but funny diet it really works it worked for me just sleep all day cause your sleeping you miss all the meals and when you wake up your hardly hungry and if you do eat eatlike a little and just go to the mall or some where to get you tired then sleep agian! :) happy dieting

    Stand on your head 4 times a day in a corner for 30 min. each time. Then when you get up ....drink water. Good luck ! ;>

    my husband turned to lite beer and stop eating before bed good luck
