No when you are being hanged you dont dis instantly, it takes afew minitues before you choke.

the above answer is wrong, you die instantly, but you twitch. Hanging done correctly breaks the neck it does not strangle you

Yes. But what does it matter. Dead or alive, Saddam is history. The conflict that is swirling the country would not be alleviated by his death.
