what's the future of the USA?

inevitably all governments eventually fall apart so all political BS aside whats the prediction of the future for the USA when it finally goes ?

how long until things get so bad there's a civil war or just a break up of the states?

my guess the first to go will be California then the tristate area would be next after that the rest of the Union would crumble pretty quick.

maybe 4 or 5 separate governments ruling over what was formerly the US broken into several pieces?

Well, I don't think we're doomed in the sense that the States will break up and seperate governments will be formed. But like another poster above me said, we're not going to be a superpower forever. There are a few countries who are poised to take away that power from us in the next 25-50 years. China, Japan and India are just a few, with their massive population explosions, a very strong and still improving economy, and increased military prowress. Yet at the same time, the power they can use with their new superpower status will not be as large as it has been in the past. Global communications, the internet, easy travel, global businesses ... there won't be a massive divide between the superpowers and those who aren't.

But back to your original question, I don't believe their will be a civil war or the break up of the states. A) You won't have people too fight, it's just not in our collective conscinous to fight our "brothers and sisters." The U.S. has been around much too long now for that to happen. B) Most of the country is really moderate. They won't fight either. C) National businesses plus family spread around the country will again make it way too hard to fight or seperate from each other.

More of the same until European union gets further down the road or until China becomes a superpower.

There's nothing to stop us right now on our current path -- including the American people.

That China will overtake us in the future is inevitable. We have to enjoy the ride for now. In the mean time, we would be smart to keep things positive with China and not provoke them.

China is a huge country with vast resources and a massive and talented population. Our universities are filled with Chinese at the top of the class.

We can only hope that we are in good standing when the scale tilts to them.

The only way the States would ever break apart is if it was a mandate by a conquering nation to keep us in line -- prevent us from getting back to where we were on top of the hill.

So, if we antagonize the world to the extent that everyone is against us when China ascends, then China would break us into pieces once we are conquered as a sort of punishment -- just as we have always done.

To the victor go the spolis. Anyone who thinks China is not going to overtake us, maybe in 100 years or so, is delusional.

It probably wont come to a civil war, if so the US would issue marshall law. Most likely it will be some kind of nuclear war with who knows what country. It would have to be WW3 because the UN backs USA. Are you kidding me this is a stupid ??

There is no reason to dismantle the Union. There is no separatist movement in US. So it will not occur in the visible future.

America will continue to lead the world - for a while. As all other leaders in past (Rome, the Hapsburgs, England, the Turkish empire and others), America will loose its dominance and new power/s will arise. Probably China, maybe India, maybe a united Far East.

I support California seperating from the U.S.. Unfortunately there are too many immigrants to prevent this from happening. Damn Texans and New Yorkers, Can't they go back where they came from and stop stealing jobs and lowering our wages.

It will turn into a third world just like Mexico. You can't just let millions of leaching, mooching third worlders into a first world country and expect the level of living to stay the same.

I expect a very grim future for this once fine country....
