It is a treatment that chemically straightens your hair permanently for about 6 months to 1 year, depending on how fast your hair grows out. It takes about 2 hours to do, the hairdresser puts very strong chemicals into your hair and when they are rinsed out, your hair stays straight, even after you shower. When you get it done, you are not supposed to shower for at least 3 days. My best friend has very thick, untamed hair and she gets it chemically straightened about every 8 months. She still has to use a straightner after she showers because it tends to get frizzy. It usually costs from $300-$600 depending on the salon. I recommend it for hair that is hard to straighten.

Hair straightening is a permanant process for SOME people. Unfortunatly in some cases the bonds in the hair are stronger than the chemicals used and the straightened hair will go curly again. If the hair does stay straight as it grows , it will grow out with your natural curl from the scalp. So in 3 months you could expect to have just over an inch of curly hair at the scalp with straight 6 months you would have 2 inches of curly hair with straight ends. Depending on the salon you are looking at $300 upwards every 6 months or so. Cheaper solution....Buy a straightening iron
