Religion or just ignorance Pt 2?

I am open to all opinions, ideas and suggestions.

I am just curious as to why these stories are believed by so many.

Schizophrenia is a common mental disorder. Some of the symptoms are : illusions, delusions, irrational reasoning. Believing that invisible beings are watching you and influencing your life, seeing and hearing things that only you or a chosen few can hear etc... If the symptoms are encouraged instead of being treated, they tend to be reinforced. This has been cleverly used by a few who decided to develop an organized scam that helps a few take the control of many. It is called religion. It also uses classic facilitation trick: Say that god did it for every thing that is difficult to understand. Extend domination through guilt with the sin and save thing, and of course, use the natural fear of death. Preach submission and obedience and make sure the miserable don't revolt against the happy few by teaching that : yes your life down here is not great but accept it and the next one up there will be so much better.... Pagan Roman emperor Constantin fully understood the benefits he could get of such a system when he got together with religious sects to set up the roman catholic church. Emperors, kings, dictators and now presidents use it as well in many occasions.

I dislike religion but think "ignorant" is too harsh a word to describe those who do believe in it..."Mistaken" is a better word to describe believers in Religion - please don't take that as me being derogatory to anyone who does believe in religion. Religions and believers for the most part mean well - Religions generally provide a rule book and guidance to follow a way of life for salvation to an afterlife.

To me Religion is like the mother of all ways to procreate and maintain life - people know they will die, the only way to physically continue their lives is to have children, and the only way to mentally continue their lives is to believe in an afterlife - and so this is one major reason Religion exists, the fact that we all will die is a major contributary factor to the need for religion.

Someone who believes in Christianity will get to Heaven if they follow certain 'rules' (or Commandments) laid down by who exactly? Humans laid down the rules...not a God or being though a human "claimed" God gave them to him, they were writtin on two stone tablets, why weren't they written on some material unknown to humans? That way then they could be described as not being from this world - but they weren't, a commonly and easily found material was used.

Religion, every Religion is all hearsay passed down human beings (and the rules were often controlled and enforced by people who had high authority to control it and had their own personal goals in mind).

If a God exists then what about every human up until the birth of Jesus (for example) who believed in all sorts of other Gods? Are they all doomed to hell? What about people in America around the time of the birth of Jesus? Why weren't they let in on the knowledge of the son of God being born, why wasn't he born there?

I call it fear. They don't know the answers and are terrified of that so they make up answers. Its rather like when you're a little kid and tell stories to answer what you don't know. The problem is that some people don't seem to ever grow out of that. Only this time, their god is their story.

Some people are too weak to be able to function with "I don't know".

The bible is commonly referred to as the best seller of all time. Why does it surprise you that there are numerous believers? The bible isn't all false, you know. There's a lot of history in there.

I do agree that most of the old testament is ridiculous. A man who lived to be a thousand years old? Come on.... Interesting stories they are. But fact, they are not.

These stories are believed by so many because we have within us the ability to recognize that there is a God and we are not Him.

Just because I can't personally part the Red Sea doesn't mean God can't do it. He made the Red Sea. What would give us the insane notion He can't part it?

I assume you mean stories like Adam and Eve?

Poetry, metaphor, allegory, are all very powerful when it comes to the working of the mind.

Don't think so? When was the last time you had a completely rational linear dream?

The best way to know and judge any situation/status' is to be there. If you start following and practicing religion then you can know.

For example, I cant know the depth of a pool or canal or river unless I enter inside. One can not the degree of heat unless until one puts one's hand or finger inside.

All these issues relate to practical knowledge gains. Please do a try and come back with a question.
