    ACCEPTED NORMAL ADULT RANGE

    Systolic 100 To 119mmHg

    Diastolic 60 To 79mmHg

In general as we get older and we are otherwise healthy, our systolic rises and diastolic stays about the same (due to loosing the elasticity of our arteries).

Table below gives stages of High Blood pressure and recommended treatments.

    Category Systolic Diastolic Recommended follow-up

    Normal < 120 < 80 Recheck in two years

    High-normal 120-139 80-89 Recheck in one year

Stage 1 140-159 90-99 Confirm within two weeks

Stage 2 160-179 100-109 Evaluate or refer for additional care

Stage 3 >179 >109 Evaluate or refer for additional care immediately

Be sure to check in both arms, and check other indicators such as cholesterol levels.

It depends. Does the person have any other health issues? If not, a normal b\p would be 130\80.
