so that they can sleep better at night and tell their children that it was the Iraqi people that condemned Saddam to death to wipe the blood of their own hands!!!!!!

Because the country of Iraq has it's own government. The US is not an occupying force, it is a security force.
The Iraqi legal system is not at all like the US system of justice and the judges and lawyers were assigned by the legally elected Iraqi government.

The IRAQI Government is the sole governing body behind the trial of Saddam Hussein and the US Troops or the US Government have no say in Iraqi's Government.

Because it WAS set up by Iraqis. Yes, the US is in Iraq, but that does not mean they control all the government institutions.

We don't hang people here in America, but Iraqis do hang people. so we let Iraqis judge Saddam.

Their laws, their rules, their judges, their witnesses, their verdict, their sentence. I would sleep just fine if the US convicted and hung him also.
