Why do so many people try to push their beliefs on others?

just like on the issue of abortion. why do conservatives feel the need to ban abortion because they feel it is immoral? if they believe that way, why cant they just exclude themselves from practicing it? if you think its wrong, dont do it. but what gives you the right to tell someone else that they cant? i dont believe its anybody's place to tell people what to do because they believe a certain way.

Update:

ok, lets try to actually answer the question instead of calling names....kinda childish

Update 2:

once again, people miss the whole point. the whole burglary thing is a stupid comparison. nobody could honestly argue that they see that as ok. however, countless people differ on when life actually starts. burglary doesnt come down to a moral question like abortion.

The way to go is always towards the side that demands less freedoms. Never should you go with someone who bans something, who reduces the freedoms of a great country, because they themselves think of it as immoral. If they think it is immoral, they should not participate in it. They will be free of their "sins", and everyone else will enjoy their freedoms.

Some compare abortion to murder. I compare it to surgery. It is not a separate being until it comes out of its mother.

What a dumb question. Morals and ethics are not relative. They form the basis of our constitution and our laws. Stealing a car is deemed unethical, hence it is a crime. Murdering a baby inside the womb is murder, hence it should be a crime. There is a cultural civil war going on in this country, and the conservative side finally woke up after 3 decades of being asleep (60's, 70's, 80's) and being oblivious to the war that is going on. There is a heartbeat and a human body just 7 weeks (if not sooner) from conception (i watched and heard a 7-week sonogram recently). Sticking a vacuum tube inside the woman's $%^&* and sucking out the baby, ripping its limbs off and turning it into a bloody pulp (look at the bag afterwards ladies) in the process, is murder in any common sense of the word. If you are pro choice, choose whether or not to have unprotected sex, that is your choice. In cases of rape a woman can take the morning after pill at the hospital. Muslims are even more conservative than USA republicans, so I cant wait until you catch on to that my friend. In Islamic culture there is no such thing as "separation of church and state" so when they grow in numbers and take over (like they are doing in europe), you will find out what it really is like to have someone telling you what you can and cannot do. Some say look at Turkey, it is a muslim country with secular laws, but that is not the case. If you are not a muslim, you cannot own property and use it for a synagogue or church or private school etc....Legislative laws in a muslim country are based on islamic law, the concept of "separation of mosque and state" is generally laughed at in the middle east.

Bottom line is that the laws you have to obey are indeed telling you what you can and cannot do. I dont think burglarizing your home is unethical, I want to redistribute your wealth to the more needed like the illegal immigrant here in my neighborhood, so who are you to tell me to stop, the right to posessions is your belief system, not mine :)

the same reason liberals want to teach my son it's ok to be gay.

But let's look t your reasoning. I think it is immoral to use herion. So I choose not to do it. Why is the government's place to tell someone not to do it? because it affect society as a whole.

The abortion thing comes down to when the fetus is a person. People who are "pro-life" against abortion claim that the fetus is a person and you are murdering the person. people who are "pro -choice" feel the fetus is not a person.

I am a registered republican and call myself a conservative, but I do beleive abortion should be the woman's choice.

You know, I wondered the same thing. Why do people sue cigarette companies when it plainly states on the carton that smokes are harmful to your health? Why do gays and lesbians always try to push for marriage? Why won't libs let us take OUR money out of the Social Security program and invest it on our own? Why do I have to be bilingual to teach in an American school in Texas or California? Why, why, why, why?

Abortion is easy. It's murder. As long as I'm alive, I'll protect the unborn children. Why shouldn't we protect them? We already protect baby seals!

It's not just about the morality. It's about extinguishing the life of a baby (and nobody on here was ever not a one celled organism).

I'm pro-Baby and there are abortion alternatives. So, I speak for the rights of those babies who might otherwise not be given a chance at life. That's what gives me the right.

Taking your argument to another end, if I choose to rob your house, and feel that it's OK, even though others may feel differently, are they wrong for pushing the belief that it's wrong to rob your house?

Well it works both ways with the democrats trying to push their beliefs on the republicans as well It works both ways and is the way politics works. There are many issues they neither side can agree on and in turn the extremes of both sides try to force their beliefs on the other.

The only people who try to force their beliefs on others are those who are insecure in their own beliefs and need to do that to validate their own positions.

I am in secure enough in everything I believe without ever trying to force another person to think like me ( hopefully I try anyway)

I have always liked to say, if you dont like something dont it and if something offends you dont look at it. It has worked well for me so far.

Because abortion is far more than immoral...it is the killing of human life.

Liberals believe that the baby is not life, but tissue and take the position that they can do whatever they want, just like a breast augmentation or facelift...and if that were the case, I'd agree with you. But the fetus is human and living, and just society can say a person cannot beat their child, it can say they cannot kill their child.

I think murder mis immoral. Does that mean I shouldn't try to force it on others? Many people (I'm not 1 of them) believe that human life begins at conception, therefore abortion is murder. I respect their right to try to outlaw what they see as murder. All our laws are based on people's beliefs in morality.
