Please don't use the word "kill" shelters do their best to save as many animals as they can, but is a sad truth that their just aren't enough homes for all the animals. Animals that aren't adopted are HUMANELY euthanized. For the most part, shelters are not kill or no-kill, they practice social responsibility, meaning that they euthanize based on behavior or health. Because a large number of animals do not pass the health/temperment tests for the most part, shelters do not need to put a time limit on animals. No-kill shelters euthanize for no reason, which can be more cruel than euthanizing them all. Kill shelters place animals up for adoption, and if they do not find homes after a period of time, they are euthanized. If people would alter their pets, this would not be the problem that it is...

Kill shelters are shelters that euthanize animals due to space concerns after a certain amount of time (generally between 1-2 weeks). No-kill shelters do not euthanize animals after a certain amount of time, only if the animal is seriously ill or aggressive.

These are shelters where they keep the animals for a few days and if no one claims them or they are not adopted they KILL them. Sometimes no-kill shelters try to take them in so they will not be destroyed.

cat kill shelters kill cats after they have been there for a while and have not gotten a home! low kill shelters are where they only kill the animals if theyr really sick or vicious, and no kill shelters r where they only kill to put an animal out of its misery like if their really sick! hope this helps! =)

Shelters that euthanize (put to sleep) cats when they run out of room for them. They often euthanize perfectly healthy animals that would make great pets. These animals exist because some people are irresponsible and do not get their pates spayed and neutered and irresponsibly contribute to the already horrible numbers of unwanted animals.

They kill them by giving them an overdose of tranquilizer which stops their hearts.
