Seafood is anything that comes out of the ocean. It includes things like prawns, squid, shark, clams, oysters, etc. that are not referred to as fish. Some fish live in the ocean (tuna, for instance). You could call them fish OR seafood, as you like. Other fish live in fresh water streams and lakes (trout, salmon). You can't call them seafood.

The short version: fish have bones (except for shark) and seafood does not. Seafood is considered to be all crustaceans (shrimp, crab, lobster, etc.), mollusks (scallops, clams, snails, etc.), and cephalopods (squid, octopus, etc.).

And if you're feeling really adventurous, try sea urchin - an echinoderm - a seafood delicacy in east Asia.

Seafood is just the general term. Fish, shrimp/prawns, octopus, shellfish (mussels, clams, etc.) would all be classified under "seafood".

Seafood is any sea animal or seaweed that is served as food or is suitable for eating. This usually includes seawater animals, such as fish and shellfish (including mollusks and crustaceans).

Fish are aquatic vertebrates that are typically cold-blooded; covered with scales, and equipped with two sets of paired fins and several unpaired fins. Fish are abundant in the sea and in fresh water, with species being known from mountain streams (e.g., char and gudgeon) as well as in the deepest depths of the ocean (e.g., gulpers and anglerfish).

So, fish can be seafood, and seafood contains fish..

Octopus( calamari) and crabs and prawns ( shrimp), lobster are all seafood. Fish as my little niece would say is a swim-my thing. Trout, goldfish, etc are examples of fish.

Seafood would be anything that comes from the waters; including fish, octopus, shark, shrimp, etc. Fish is just the fish, such as salmon, tuna, tilapia. It doesn't include other sea creatures.

Fish can be sea food but not all sea food is fish.

Lobster and all shellfish are crustasions and are not really fish.

Octo, squid and shrimp are also not fish.

Fish can live in fresh water also so those aren't sea food since they aren't from the sea.

Technically, seaweed is sea food also.
