Best bike racer ever?

Who do think was/is the best of all time? Armstrong, Merckx, Moser, or someone else?

While Lance is the king of the TDF, the best rider in history is Eddy Merckx, without question. Lance Armstrong's palmares is only a small fraction of Eddy's!

In 1968, Merckx won his first of five Giros d'Italia, taking the overall, sprinter's AND KoM jerseys with his 4 stage wins. In '69, he did the same thing for his FIRST Tour de France and took 5 stage wins.

In 1970, '72 and '74 he won the Tour AND the Giro, with multiple stage wins each. He took a break in 1973 to win the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a Espana (with the points jerseys as well), his third Paris-Roubaix, and his fourth of five Liège - Bastogne - Liège wins.

Add six Milan-San Remos, seven Pernod Trophies, all three jerseys in the Tour of Switzerland, and numerous spring classics to that list, and Armstrong's seven Tour victories seems to pale in comparison.

Eddy Merckx, hands down. He won everything, multiple times, and in a most aggressive fashion. Even Lance Armstrong says so.

Eddie Merckx was great, but others to consider...

Bernard Hinault, Greg Lemond (especially if he didn't miss a couple of prime years after being shot), Miguel Indurain. But I vote for Lance Armstrong.

Eddy Merckx is the best cyclist ever. Armstrong is the best Tour de France cyclist ever.

Indurain. Close with Lance but Lance was a one event guy who benefited a lot from being on the strongest team and being well protected. Miguel was a monster.
