Budget Weddings??

I am getting married next summer. His family wants us to get married in Texas. He says I can plan the wedding on a budget of course, and he will plan the honeymoon. We want to get married on the beach. What and where is a good idea for a reception in Corpus Christi, Texas? Any ideas how to plan a nice, elegant beach wedding on a $1000 budget. I have to get the dress within this budget too?

I would raise the budget to maybe $5,000. $1,000 won't get you a very good wedding when you think about the minister, the cake, the dress and tux. If you can't do a $5,000 dollar wedding then elope.

$1000 isn't much, but here's the help I can offer. I bought my dress in Fenruary- it was a left over from the spring/summer before. It only cost me $250 (marked down from $800). So, I would look into that avenue. However, $250 is already 1/4 of your budget. You could do a really low key wedding and just buy a nice dress (unless you want a real wedding dress). My husband and I were married in a park and it only cost us $60 for the garden area. We rented 120 chairs for $300, but for a 15 minute ceremony on the beach, you could probably get away with people standing unless you have people that need chairs (elderly, sick, ect.). So, maybe you could have a reception at a local park and just have cake and punch. My friends did a wedding like that. It felt more like a celebration that a whole fancy wedding, which was nice because it was more laid back. Depending on how many you have to feed, I had a cake for 125 people and it cost us $400. You could always contact local parks and find out how much a shelter area might cost for the day or look into rental halls. We got our banquet center for $500. Or, if you have family or friends in the area- maybe they'd let you have a party/reception at their house?

We had a friend of the family marry us (make sure they are ordained!!!) and we tipped him $50. He didn't charge us, but we gave him the tip for his time.

For flowers, well I had daisies and my bouqet also had some roses in it- all the flowers and the like were $250. Maybe you could just hold a single rose or your favorite flower? Just keep your flower choice in season or it'll cost more.

Best of luck to you and I hope you can get everything you want on your budget. Just remember, it's your day- so do it how you want to.

Id FIRST off get the dress you want preferrably around 500 or less tho. If you also have to pay for a pastor, Id start looking now because they usually can cost anywhere from 50 bucks to 500 dollars as well. Those 2 things are necessary to get married! So keep your priorities FIRST and everything else is either unnecessary or is second. Make a list of the things you MUST have, if you need some small things, check out garage sales, or even ebay. I sold SO MUCH left over wedding crap for VERY VERY cheap at the last garage sale I had. I sold a BRAND NEW NEVER USED GORGEOUS guest sign in book for 5 dollars. I think I paid 60 for it. So you really have to look, but Im sure things will be fine. Dont exhaust yourself, and remember to ask for help from friends and family if you need it. Good luck!

You may want to consider raising this budget.Things for a wedding can get a bit expensive but their are ways to cut corners. Buy a dress from davids bridal in the $99 sale.Get a friend to help you with flowers and decorations. Since you are having a bech wedding, dress the groom is comfortable khakis. The majority of your money will be spent on your reception so try making it a dessert reception or something like that.

    Good luck and congratulations!!

I dont think you can have an elegant wedding on $1000. You can have a nice simple wedding on $1000. Who is paying? You dont have to spend a fortune on the dress. There are many dresses that dont cost a fortune. Maybe you need to get your own money and then you could exceed his budget. Are your parents paying, then you need to discuss it with them. If he is paying, then unless you get him to raise it, you will have a $1000 dollar wedding. I think most spend too much anyway.

First, make sure the piece of beachfront property you'll be using is free. Buy a secondhand dress, or a super-informal one (this would be best for a beach anyway). Keep your guest list tiny. For the reception, just have a champaign and cake reception. It will be short, but you won't have to feed people a meal or offer a full bar.

Elegant?? Your going to have to raise your budget or not have anyone there. Go on theknot.com and plug in 1,000 bucks and it will brake it down for you and show you how much $$ you have for each thing. You'll see what I mean quickly, and you can remove things and add things. Also does this include food? It really depends on if you have to rent a place, just going to a restaurant and how many people are attending. Fool around on the knot and try it. its' free to join and use the system, I did much budget on there too.

Minimize your guest list, make as many decorations as you can yourself, keep the decorations simple (less is more) and allow plenty of time to shop a variety of stores for your dress to get the best bargain. Also for bridesmaid dresses, shop www.chadwicks.com. They have great dresses. If you aren't looking for a designer gown, www.jcpenney.com has some great wedding dresses.

Just remember to put the emphasis on the fact that you are getting married!!!! The rest is just "gravy".

    Congratulations and best wishes!

honestly, you cant plan a wedding for a thousand dollars unless it will be on;ly you and your fiance lol. but you can pull one off with 2 or three grand...my wedding budget (whenever me and him picks a date) will be about 5 or 6 thousand for about 120 people but we are getting a lot of things free. we will have the ceremony and reception in over in our church. you can have it at a mromon church they let you do it in their gym for free. then his family has a laptop/music system so the music will be free. my family will be cooking so that should be about 500 for food and drinks. the only thing we are paying a lot for is photos, my dress and the linens w/chair covers.. i think you should get this book "how to plan a big wedding on a small budget" i live by thjat book. the lady that wrote it plan her daughters wedding for 300 people for 3500 dollars.

Try craigslist.org for anyone selling items that can incorporate your beach theme. You can also try Ebay for your dress. Also a good place to buy a simple dress is buy a bridesmaid dress instead of a bridal gown, the cost difference is huge!!!

Try craft stores to help with invitations that you can print on your own and ideas to make your own centerpieces and favors. Unfortunately $1000 still doesn't go far.

    Good luck!!!
