i have a saltwater tank any tips to help keep it disese free?

Yes, always do everyhting slowly, like water changes. Shock can make fishes sick. Dont pour cold water either, always roomtemperature or same as tank temp. Keep your nitrate and nitrite levels down by doing water changes and vacuum the sand to get rid of toxins. Obviously not with a regular vacuum but a water syphon. Getting a cleaner shrimp is also a good idea he cleans the fish from bacteria. (old folks tale also, soak food on water and garlic so it gets infused with the garlic, its supposed to boost the fish inmune system. Feed this a couple of times a week)

Put live rock in there, have lots of circulation, don't worry about algae (many different types grow in marine tanks), do water changes regularly and get a small team of cleaner shrimp.
Most importantly get some good books on salt water fish keeping.

simply watch the fish.
A lot of fish seem to spontanously get sick. I know,it's frustrating,but there's thousands of good products out on the market to help your fishy get better!
