I find it pretty much USELESS. I have not been to able to find a single thing that I have been searching for, including music. And yes, I twice got a trojan, but AVG caught them, so no harm. Maybe others like Ares and Morpheus are better.

    Its Limewire, not Livewire.

    Happy New Year!!

    1. Limewire is hosted in the USA, so, when the RIAA won the Grokster lawsuit, (through some ignorance on the part of the judge about technology!), see groklaw... the RIAA forced Limewire, through extortion by their powerful lobby of lawyers, to BUILD IN some back doors, blockers, and trackers for the RIAA (and, their 'buddies', the MPAA!)!

    2. Those also introduced huge vulnerabilities! ALWAYS, run your computer behind a SEPERATE Hardware FIREWALL!!! I prefer http://ipcop.org/ on a 133mhz or faster system. A great way to recycle older machines!

    3. The development team moved all the OPEN SOURCE CODE to servers OFF SHORE, where they built a NEW VERSION called FROSTWIRE, that even runs more options than LIMEWIRE PRO!!! AGAIN, it is FREEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!! http://frostwire.com/

    4. Many of the 821 distros of *BSD and GNU/Linux include it among the bittorrent file transfer programs for our transfer and collections of Open Source Software, and files!

    5. My favorite is http://pclinuxos.com/ that comes with 5500 FREE games, programs, applications, office suites, and runs upto 50X FASTER than any Microsoft OS ever has, on the SAME hardware! All the school kids love it! Yes, it includes Free Civilization, Lincity, Atlantik (live internet IM Monopoly), XFrisk,

and all the IM and IRC Chat programs!

The kids in Orlando say it is smart to be safe, so, run http://pclinuxos.com/ on any computer from 350mhz up to the latest systems!

limewire is actually a very good program to have. there was a time about a year ago that someone dumped a virus into the network, but most of that has been removed. there are still a few, but you can recognize them by their file size. if it looks way too small to be what it's supposed to be, it's a virus. if you don't download it, you will be ok.

You can definitely get viruses and spyware from LimeWire...just be VERY careful what you download (music is fine, everything else watch out for).

I download from Limewire. You do have to be careful indeed. But as long as you have a good anti-virus program I wouldn't worry about it.

I've had no problems with it, that I am aware of. However the potential is there when using any such programs where you are downloading files from people you do not know.
