Fabio Cannavaro truly deserve the 2006 FIFA World Player Of The Year award as both Ronaldinho & Zinedine Zidane had a misreable World Cup last summer.

Of course, Cannavaro rightly deserves the award. He is the best defender in the world. Look how rigid he was for his team during the world cup and also did well as a captain. I fully support him receiving the award.

Yes, he deserved for it because he helped Italy to win the World Cup although the situation of the team is not condusive because of Calciopoli. He also show the great play though his posture is short. He had a great season in Juventus before moved to Real Madrid. He won the Italian League but because of Calciopoli it's gone to Inter.

Cannavaro deserves, only Gigi Buffon was equal, this year.

Ronaldinho was one of the greatest player in the world during last three or four years, but simply not *this* year.

no way! he does not have 1/4th the skill of Henry or Ronnie Or zizu! watch him in la liga he is getting burned left and right!! The only reason he was so good in the WC is because he had such a good supporting cast! I no longer respect the award!
