The threeway struggle. The struggle between those who simply would like to do away with Christmas altogether, the religious types who say, Christmas is about remembering the birth of Christ and the commercialists who says Christmas is all about the new Playstation 3.

It seems to me that more and more people are perfectly happy with December 25th just being December 25th. They (me included) just want the day to come and go. We see Christmas as a day of being forced to stay home because everything is closed so we have to deal with family and friends, which isn't always pleasant.

Then there are those who say, Christmas is all about getting gifts and who cares what your religion in, Christmas is all about getting the latest electronics and new clothes and giving expensive gifts that nobody really needs. This group is represented by companies, malls and advertisers who attempt to create an illusion that what you give at Christmas is more important than the real meaning of Christmas.

Then there are those who say, Christmas is simply about remembering the birth of Christ. They argue that Santa Claus and gift giving is in no way related to the real meaning of Christmas. And if one group says they want to do away with Christmas then they're choosing not to acknowledge the birth of the Savior. The commercialists want to keep the religious aspect out of it all because to them, it's all about making money.

Going into further debt for a bunch of Asian made crap. Hundreds for sweat shop clothes, plastic useless items that don't last, eating sugary health damaging food, rushing around in crowds trying to figure out what to buy someone we thought we knew, getting robbed loading stuff in the car, annoying people begging for money, hypocrisy of how everyone is the rest of the year.

    Stop the Madness!!!

    Reason is:

If we didn't do Christmas and just spent time with family without going shopping and stressing out with the bills would they love us less.

If we stopped and I mean didn't even think of it what would happen???

Ten years ago I stopped and you know what it felt great. Haven't done Christmas since.

Jesus. My 3 year old son. Family. And then, brain-damaging amounts of alcohol and illicit substances. In that order.
