Aluminum cans are coated with either a water or solvent based coating including the lids. Beer cans have less coating in them than soda cans so that the beer will not pick up the coating flavor. Plastic containers are made of petroleum products and also have an effect on flavor. There are taste testers at producers plants that actually train to detect tastes in beer. Glass does not effect flavor and are normally dark to prevent light from changing the beers flavor. I guess the alternative is responsible drinking which might be an oxymoron.

Most aluminum cans are lined with plastic but the lid and mouth are not. Plastic bottles are somewhat permeable to the gases in beer. Both affect their taste. Tradition also plays a large role.

But a full can of beer or a full thrown plastic bottle of beer will still do damage. If someone wants to hurt someone they are going do it.

Yeah canned beer & some bars sell it in plastic cups (thats usually just if its on tap). In Vegas on New Years Eve they wouldnt allow any glass bottles to be sold until Jan.1st for that exact reason. The streets had millions of crazy drunks ready to slice people ;)

Beer is brewed and served in glass bottles, cans, plastic bottles, and kegs. You will find plastic bottles served at sporting events in the USA. It minimizes 'accidents' and cuts caused by glass bottles.

Many drinkers say beer from a bottle doesn't get the tinny tast that it does from a can. People should drink responsibly or not at all.
