Well the major role that the United States plays in the middle east right now with Iraq being in the process of creating an interim government is the role of security and peacekeepers. This is because while the United Nations can say and do a lot in the way of legislation, legislation does very little against renegade militias that roam the area. In the event that the United States pulls its troops from the middle east without properly elevating the government there, chances are fairly good that the government will collapse under its own weight. Most likely it'll either lose funding or find it in a less than reputable place. Or a militia will come in and kill the officials and lockdown the area while a rogue soveriegn in the area prepares to move in and take control. This kind of action may cause a war throughout the middle east for some time while the three major groups of people currently living there either flood out of Iraq or fight to make up their own countries.

There has been on going civil war in the middle for a long time.

The middle east, like europe, has long been plagued with conflict.

The latest development would be an escalation of conflict between the 2 major types of islam. The Shiites, backed by Iran, and the Sunnis, backed by I think Saudi Arabia. This could result in a wide reaching war in the middle east (this is possible in the next 5 years)

However an alternative would be conflict between a growing united and fundamentalist islamic movement. From diverse backgrounds such as Indonesia and Iran, these people wish to free themselves from western influences. So it is possible that many nations will combine to fight against western and non-aligned nations (this conflict may take 10-20 years to develop)

If you want to help stop this, read the Koran and quote the peace loving lines to militant muslims. Also read the bible and quote the same sort of thing to George W.

    Nah...

The people in the Middle East are just a bunch of fun loving guys who treat everyone like their bestest buddies. Jews, Muslims, Christians and Athiests all get along great.

Heck, sometimes we all get together and play a little badmitton on the weekends. I've NEVER been shot at or had an IED go off on my vehicle. That would NEVER happen...

    We're just all big buddies.......

So long as a zionist state exists in the Middle East, there's going to be conflict there. The Arabs have made it rather clear they want Israel out.

There is a big chance -- But I don't think Bush should considering he's the one who started it and it'll probably start another World War
