There seems to be a disconnect with the past when we spend a holiday away from loved ones. The happy memories of past holidays cannot be replicated with strangers. There is a bond between loved ones that usurps other friendships.

It shouldn't be such a traumatic experience, however. I believe that love is not diminished by separation. In fact, during times of separation, love may be rejuvenated and felt more intensely.

One way to handle this despondency when separated, is to communicate via telephone or the Internet. That communication can be felt as intensely as a face to face conversation.

If the bond is strong, deep feelings and subtle nuances of speech will convey that love through those other mediums.

In reality, you are always there with a loved one. Remember, the light of love is an ember that is difficult to extinguish.
