the only possible connection i see would be that there could be a connection because melatonin does increase the vividness of your dreams, and if you're already prone to panic attacks and you have a bad vivid dream then that can only lead to bad things

The most common side effects of melatonin are headache, drowsiness, and upset stomach. It should not cause night panic attacks. But, if you suspect that it is the cause of your attacks, try to stop taking it for a while and see if the panic attacks go away.

Melatonin naturally relaxes you & helps you fall asleep by working with your body's pineal gland in the brain.

Nocturnal panic attacks are a separate issue. You may want to consult a Sleep Clinic for further evaluation.
