In plain English, there are lots and lots of exceptions in .NET. Additionally, you can create your own exceptions, intentionally, any time you want, by using any of the various Exception classes provided with .NET.

The Exception class is the base class from which exceptions inherit. Most exception objects are instances of some derived class of Exception, but you can throw any object that derives from the Object class as an exception.
I have no clue how many there are but there are lots.
