Apart from Notron Antivirus, what else should I have to keep my PC as fresh and fast as it is today?

My favorite two websites for keeping my computer up and running are pcpitstop.com and driveragent.com.
Pcpitstop.com downloads a small .dll file on the computer and when you do an anonomyus full system scan, it checks a lot of things on the computer that could be bad and could go under the radar. Things like defrag and system maint. to viruses and possible hardware problems and even slow internet performance. The website also provides more scans that have saved my computer many times.
Driveragent.com allows you to scan the computer to see if you have the latest drivers according to its database. Although you have to pay to download their latest drivers, it tells you that there are new drivers out to make and keep you computer running cleaner and faster.
Why pay more for memory hogging programs when there are simple free websites? I don't even use Norton or any antivirus. Although, I will give you one great program that doesn't take up much room and very user friendly and free.
It's called WinPatrol. I call it Scotty the Watchdog because that's their symbol. It's a great little program. It's a small download and it prompts you about major software/hardware changes. It also gives you full control to the computer softwares and services that are running. It allows you to stop programs from starting up on startup to get faster loadtimes. It allows you to delete cookies and manage services. Scotty can get a little picky sometimes, but he does it for your own good.
Good luck. Hope this helps.Source(s): 3 years of PC building experience

Antivirus slows down report get admission to. It makes video games run slower; it makes business employer application run slower; it makes enormously lots each thing run slower. Antivirus application usually isn't loose. Granted there are quite a few magnificent ones that are loose, yet ninety% of customers understand no longer something approximately them. Antivirus application can in basic terms take care of your computing device against viruses and malware that works in a acknowledged, predictable way. In different words, if the producer of the appliance has in no way seen a undeniable form of virus or trojan or malware, then your computing device isn't risk-free, whether you have it put in and energetic. shop your computing device as much as this factor with updates from the producer and any vulnerabilities brought about via previous flaws would have been patched -- and for that reason no longer be achievable. Run classes like SpywareBlaster periodically to set the energetic-x kill bit, which will avert many viruses and malware from evening attempting to place in. SpywareBlaster isn't a historic past technique that runs continuously.

Some spyware removers I generally use these 2, they are both free to download too.
Spybot is available from
and adaware from
If you have a DVD burner I would recommend doing a backup of your complete system using something like Norton Save and Restore. (Unfortunately its not free but well worth it)
It can save you hours if you get infected with a virus or install something that destroys windows.
At the very least keep a backup of your pictures, music and documents. A list of all your passwords too, if you are like me you will have signed up for lots of different things

Since you already have Norton AV you should be able to get a discounted version of the complete security suite. To that I would add Diskeeper and Registry Mechanic...2 great apps.

1. For your Anti-Virus.........................
Your Norton will be fine!
2. For your Firewall......................
An excellent free firewall is Comodo Personal Firewall. It can pass firewall "leak tests" that even a lot of the "paid-for" firewalls cannot pass.
And Comodo has a great support forum. Where the CEO / President of the company might even himself answer your question! Check it out at:
3. For your Anti-Adware and Anti-Spyware needs...............
Pick and choose at least 2 anti-spywares from the list below and alternate scanning with them on a regular basis. New spywares are created literally hourly, so no single anti-spyware can really detect all malware. Have at least 2 on hand and alternate scanning with each every few days or so. All are free. All can remove as well as detect.
Spybot Search and Destroy:
Unfortunately, many "paid for" anti-spyware products are in fact either of limited usefulness or downright scams. When in doubt, look at the list of rogue anti-spyware solutions listed here:
4. And to protect your computer from ever getting infected with spyware in the first place...................
Everything here is 100% free!!!!!!
