Could someone please help me?

My sister's husband's brother who is very addicted to crack and god knows what else calls my house at all hours of the day and night on the telephone. I have contacted the police about it, but they told me that since his name and phone number are somehow blocked on my caller id I have no proof and can't do anything about it. I know it's him because we had this problem with him before and I called the police and it stopped for a while, but he is back dong it again. I tried to contact the Verizon telephone company but being the weekend noone is there. Also tomorrow is Christmas so noone will be there either. I have taken the phone off the hook but I need to talk on it sometime. I don't know his phone number because he somehow blocks it when he calls here. I tried the *57 trace thing after he calls but that does not work either. Even if I did know his phone number I don't know what numbers to push on the telephone to block my name and number on his caller ID. any ideas would help

Not much help this short notice, as this is not a dire emergency.

Your best bet right now is to add what's called "privacy manager", a service by your local phone company, for a few dollars a month. That will get rid of most telemarketers and annoying calls, as well as force most calls int voicemail, which you can deal with later. Check if your local phone company offers it and if it fits your needs.

If he's just a full blown addict with no other life--do the best you can in helping him before you start calling the cops--their interests are not yours and they are more expensive for the relatives of the brother than someone within the family stepping up and intervening. Having someone step up and pay for inpatient care, even a weeks worth, might be the difference in his life. The holidays are so hard to deal with when you have an addiction because of the need to block the pain of what your doing, since your not always high to the point of indecisiveness. Husbands' bro needs to step up and save him or lose him--disowning him will lead to a lifetime of regret for both of them, especially if he repents.

The phone company offers a service that blocks ALL callers that do not allow their number to be ID'd.

Try that :) Be forewarned, that this service may not work with some "calling card" services, since they provide a number to the id box. Not one you can call back...but still a number.

Try going to the web site and see if it says on there. But first thing Tuesday morning you need to call the phone company and get your number changed or ask them how to block calls that are made from blocked number. I have one question why does he keep call you?

Buy an answering machine and screen your calls. If its him don't pick it up, simply let the machine record the time of the call and whatever he says and there's your proof for the cops.

Check with your local council for the guidelines for harassment.

For example where I live if a telemarketer calls my number more than 4 times in one month, then its harassment and invasion of privacy and I can have them charged. Good Luck :-)

Alternatively buy one of those high pitched air horns and blow the mf'ers eardrum next time he calls! (although this could mean you end up in court...probably best to go with the first option :-)

Does he hang up? if he stays on the line, blow a whistle into the phone. Might as well get some of the anger out. My friends mother did this to someone who was crank calling her and the calls subsided somewhat.

How about turning the ringer off?

Call your phone company and see if they can block his number( if you know it) , if not, then change your number and dont give it to him.....yeah it might seem like a pain to give everyone else your new number but look at how you feel right now....better in the long run to change it

Change your number when you can and dont give it out to the wrong people. Unfortunatly that is probably the only way you can get by this. Trust me I have a very psycho ex girlfriend. But you might have to wait until Tues. or Wed. to get it changed cause the holidays.

But anyway try to have a Merry Christmas
