Yes, your activation code and/or product key should be either on a sticker on your CPU's case or a Certificate Of Authenticity from Microsoft. If you do not possess either, you may have to call Microsoft to manually activate it, assuming your copy of Windows XP is not pirated.

the cd key is a unique key, only one computer can use it, to prevent theft of software.

look on the package, it will have a cd key to enter.

if you don't have the cd key, then it is a pirated copy, and it will disable itself after 30 days...

you can purchase a cd key from microsoft, or go to the store and buy a valid copy of win xp.

no such thing as a free lunch, and it will only get more strict with Windows Vista

If you *have* Windows XP you would have the key. If it's a corporate computer the IT department will take care of it, so call them. Else... I'd have to say "too bad, pirate".

Type in the activation key. Pretty simple really.
