The same reason why they take Christianity seriously (baby born to a virgin, duh?), take Islam seriously or Buddism, or whatever religion there is. People want to feel special and loved, want to feel protected, want to think that if they believe in something they will be rewarded with life in paradise, or psychic powers, or they'll live forever...

People are just lonely without religions and gods and aliens. Or at least a Santa :P

    Merry Xmas!

People take scientology seriously because there is this prevalent belief in america that religion, faith, and "belief in believeing" is a good thing. Even people who do not beliieve in any particular brand of religious idiocy think that while religious people are misguided, the religions they prescribe to are somehow beneficial to society at large. This idea that religion is inherently good is common among agnostics, atheists, and (obviously) theists, and it is the main reason why christians don't speak out against the horrible things the scientologists have done, and why precious few atheists do.

Because when people are in the search for new answers, they'll often turn to a religion that has no bad history behind it. Since scientology is still incredibly new with no mass suicides or anything like that yet, they can get the answers they want while having the opportunity to say "Oh yeah? At least MY god doesn't cause any wars! Beat that!"

i ask your self the same element and presently considering Jett's death I were attempting to study what i will about scientology basically to locate some thing, some thing i ought to narrate to which could coach me why human beings are so gullible and nuts to position self belief in such garbage. even although scientology is corrupt in each way conceivable, hubbard replaced right into a good organization guy to a particular quantity. i imagine, they prey on insecurities and many celebrities wade through from a large number of insecurities, that's why they are targeted alongside with the very truth they have the most money. and some do get the awaken call yet for most that is too late, they have each little thing on you and that i recommend each little thing and may spoil you which ones all of us understand they have shown that factor and time back. For me, I nonetheless do not get it, being a celebrity they have the money and power yet insecurities are difficult to remove and regrettably for most that's what controls them. i imagine if anybody under no circumstances watched any videos that had stars in it that were into scientology that would nicely be an excellent initiate, as further and extra celebrities have become a member of which the hot are Will Smith, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony and they try desperately for Jessica Alba, that's basically to call some. that is somewhat scary that they have got human beings in each and each element from IRS and govt places of artwork to burger king and attempt to get all with money and power. Gee i ask your self why??? they extremely do favor to be stopped.

I suppose they think they know something about it that others don't? Maybe they just like the philosophy but don't buy the fundamental beliefs. Maybe they just like Tom Cruise ;)

I kinda got a bad taste for it after doing some research spawned by the Scientology episode of South Park where Stan is seen as the reincarnation of L. Ron Hubbard. Funny it was, no doubt.

If they feel it works for them to improve their quality of life, so be it!

As far as I know Scientology is more like a secret society of rich/famous people who pool their money and resources together to influence people and further their own goals - whatever they may be...

It brainwashes them. A lot of people really are quite desperate to be guaranteed peace of mind, and Scientology will unequivocably promise just that. Of course, you have to pay massive amounts of money in order to officially move through the levels in the "religion". You also have to pay for official "auditing" (psychotherapy while holding 2 tin cans hooked up to a machine which reads your electrical output).

People take it seriously because despite the enormous quantities of money they have to allow them to suck away from they, it makes them feel better. People feel they purge themselves and that they can walk away clean. They probably don't realize that the organization with which they've become involved has a well documented track record of lying, cheating and violence.

    Consider the following:

    • Operation Snow White – Under this program, Scientology operatives committed infiltration, wiretapping, and theft of documents in government offices. This program constituted the single largest infiltration of the United States government in history. Among the 11 prominent Scientologists convicted of this conspiracy was Mary Sue Hubbard, the wife of Scientology’s “prophet”.

    • Operation Freakout - Their campaign of sabotage and violence against Paulette Cooper, the writer who published her research and findings on several cults, including Scientology. Scientology’s official plan: to frame Paulette for making bomb threats.

    • Fair Game - the Scientology policy detailing how the organization may confront and handle critics and perceived enemies. Here is a direct quote: "Enemies may be deprived of property or injured by any means by any Scientologist without any discipline of the Scientologist. May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed.”

    http://www.xenu.net/archive/disk/fairgame.htm

    • Violent Kidnapping - Lisa McPherson was a Scientologist, was involved in a car accident and resultantly became mentally unstable, was kidnapped by agents of Scientology, held against her will, refused proper psychiatric treatment and was allowed to STARVE TO DEATH.

    • Jeremy Perkins - A CBS “48 Hours” special on the mentally disturbed son of Scientologist parents who refused to put him on the anti-psychotic drugs that would have stabilized him & prevented him from killing his own mother.

It's called the star factor. Weak

minded people want to be like

the next person. Stars want to

be like other stars. Others want

    to be like stars.

All I'm seeing is spinning stars

    from a bunch of idiots.

For those who don't know it.

    The creator of scientology

    L. Ron Hubbard started as

    a failed science fiction writer.

    because it works for them!

I dont know about L.Ron howard, but in the 70's his book dianetics was very popular.

I might make freinds and lead them to a better society, but I dont know whats the best society.!

Everything is corrupted no matter what religion you join.

what it depends on each of us to do is to study and work out our salvation by NOT rejecting truth no matter what its sources!

To the people of the carnal and the world, the people of the spirit are fools and God to them is foolish also.

so you tell me what is good about scientiology

Because a few famous people like Tom Cruise are involved in it. And because it's not Christianity, which means that it's automatically trendy and hip in the eyes of many.
