dad problems?

Well im 15 and I love my dad, but lately whenever he talks to me I just ignore him or roll my eyes. I hate it, my dad is a bad guy he's really nice and goofy like dads usually are. I try really hard to not get so annoyed by him because theres no need for it. Is it all those teenage hormones?? bcuz if it is.....it REALLY sux! ive always been his little chicken ( weird pet name i dont understand) but now i always just want to tell him to shut up. I love him, how can i stop being such a jerk??

At 15 you are desiring independence and probably don't feel that he is needed anymore. More information would be good but I suspect he is checking on if he is needed still because it is his place to help his "little girl" and you will be his concern for the rest of his life! It is not hormones, it's the age group. It sounds like you have a descent back ground at least so I ask that you not ignore him, that's rude. Just tolerate him as best you can. Things will change before you know it. Let him know that you are doing well by your actions because the words are sometimes hard to come by.

You are a typical girl your age...your Dad will realize that your not his baby anymore (although it's very hard for him). Try to talk to him about how you feel. It's a sign of you growing up...and he'll probably understand. However, Dad's don't like to address the fact that their daughters are becoming women...it's tough..so be easy on the guy. Also..remember that all your friends are prob going through the same thing. They might understand to..and have their own suggestions...don't be afraid to ask them.

Instead of reacting, at least give him the clue that you're changing and growing. He may not wanna hear it..but if you don't say something...you might expect him to treat you the same when you're 30..lol. Good luck and take care.

What your going through is normal. I think i can speak for everyone when i say that when we were teenagers...we felt like we knew it all and our parents were complete jerks. Just try to keep in mind that he means well and what he is saying sometimes is in fact true. Just think...he was your age too and has been through some things. He is talking to you based on his experiences and out of love. He just wants you to lead a succesful life and hes preventing you from making careless mistakes. Even though you think you know everything.....there are some things he can shed some light on. Be patient with him. These hormones don't last forever. Good Luck.

Hi! i'm wendy from malaysia. I suggest why don't you just be nice with him and never break any of his rules if he ask you to do something which can do and which can't. If you love him, why don't you just be a polite daughter, sitting in the house and help him whenever he needed or during the christmas eve, try to aplogize what you had did all the time, i think that might work. Good luck!

  • You are not a jerk you are just getting older and probably wanting mnore privacy and respect from your parents. I think us daughters all have issues with our fathers. Try doing some father daughter activities and include him. When I think something not nice about my poor old man I try and do something nice for himlike make him a cofee or offer him a chocolate or two when I am helping myself to one, justlittle things will help do the trick. Good luck!!!!

I totally get how you feel. Its just the hormones.Little things annoyed me all the time. i used to actually blow up on my parents for bugging me and alot of conflict. Just go along with it or tell him that you dont like it when he says certain things you dont like hearing. Trust me its hormones even when my mom used to call my name i rolled my eyes and got annoyed. It passes after a while.

Sounds like the problem rests within you. It's not the hormones making you act this way. It's your blatant disrespect of your father that is the problem.

Which tends to be the norm, with younger generation these days.

    Get some counseling

Then just stop being a jerk. I'm sure he doesn't do anything to make you be a jerk with him. When you feel that way then try to avoid him.

your being a teenager , your starting to think about your independace and how grown up you think you are , just show him once in awhile that you love him because it's hard for him to lose his little chicken as you grow up
