Hey there! First off, it's mainly a gimick to allow the viewer a memorable commercial. If you prefer one character over another, then having a grudge against the main 'guy', the apple, would allow you to remember the commercial. You have just proved that their gimick works. *applauds*
Secondly, the commercial is also an inudendo toward the biblical reference of the apple. The froot of the loom line of garments and undergarments is supposed to leave a sexual thought in one's mind when viewing the commercial, and therefore having the apple as the main character leaves a subconcious message that this line of underwear is O.K.
That's my analysis, anyway. Hope it helps.

He gets all the glory becouse thats his charactor "the ringleader" if you will. Its done that way to make it memorable and create an immage in the masses.
It's a commercial, and you just proved it works, beocuse you know Fruit of The Loom, and the apple guy, and there product.

Well the apple is truly 'the' pretigious fruit. You know the old saying, 'an apple a day keeps the doctore away'. What better spokesfruit could one ask for. I've never heard anything about what a banana can do, except give you a little potassium!
