What's next??? Having to change our National Anthem because of immigrants?

Something's not right here........... I thought I lived in "America", not some other country?

I assume you are talking about "The Star-Spangled Banner" and it being sung in a language other than English?

Did you know that in 1861, it was translated into German?

It was later translated into Yiddish by Jewish immigrants, French by Acadians in Louisiana and by other immigrants?

You know, verse three may be of interest to you.

    Specifically this part:

"No refuge could save the hireling and slave

From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:

And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave."

Perhaps you might recall American history during that time, slavery was still a common practice.

We've grown up a lot since that time.

    We're still growing.

I don't take issue with our anthem being sung in another language.

What I don't care for is the way some in the Hispanic community misuse the anthem as a political statement to allow illegal immigration into our country.

I'm all for welcoming people into our country, either as tourists, guest-workers with limited work visas or as citizens.

I do not want illegal aliens entering our country.

Our president has left the borders open for far too long.

As for culture-centric points of view, see the link below, to read about the "Black National Anthem".

Tell me what you think about that?

Personally, I was raised to believe that America was a great melting pot of culture, religion and color...with the intent of coming together for the greater cause: freedom for all, to do what we want to do, to worship as we choose and to live the dream as we see fit.

The past eight years, America has splintered between the so-called "Red States" and the "Blue States".

We've resorted to instead labeling of people as either "liberal" or "conservative" (and all the pejorative words that go with that).

Isn't it time we look at the greater issue here?

The need to rejoin and make our country stronger, to help the less-fortunate and to set an example of a fair and just society.

"A house divided against itself cannot stand."

Abraham Lincoln's 'House-Divided' Speech in Springfield, Illinois, June 16, 1858.

The Mexicans have already had it done in Spanish - remember that just a month or so ago? With all the Mexicans coming here, they'll probably want to change it to Mexico The Beautiful or something equally stupid.

Someone actually made a song of the National Anthem in Spanish and thre was a uproar back in the summer. What is killing me is the stores that run ads over the intercom in Spanish.

Learn the language and stop demanding rights (money) from my country. They don't care about freedom, they want paid. They aren't opressed in their country. Stay there and make it better, lazy asses. They want instant better.
