Rebuilding transmissions is not a simple thing to do because so many special tools are needed to accomplish the task. And buying all those tools for a one time thing, isn't the wisest thing to do.
By the time you bought or rented everything you'd need to do the job, you could have paid a tranny shop to do the job for you. Plus you'd have a warranty should something go wrong.
Visit www.amazon.com you should be able to find a book on the tranny you want to rebuild.

Tranny work is the one thing I would say to never do on your own unless you have a good back up tranny and alot of time and money to do the trial and error thing. Even many tranny shops can't get it right for some reason. If you like your vehicle, don't take it to the cheapest tranny shop in town either. Take it to a good one even though it will cost you. You'll save time, money and aggrivation in the future.
If you can't afford the shop, take your chances at a junk yard. Swap em out

Like Lemar J said above, if you don't already have the tools, etc., to do this, the best advice I could give you is AAMCO.
