The company that runs the GMAT - I believe it's the "Education testing service", offers a free booklet that has some sample questions. I believe I remember receiving it when I registered for the exam.

There may be some GMAT prep books in your local library. There are, of course, GMAT prep books at Borders, Barnes & Noble and etc., and you can go to those stores, sit in a chair and read through them.

To my knowledge, there are no free tutors for GMAT test prep. However, some of the local state colleges and even the community colleges offer relatively low-cost GMAT prep classes. Some even offer them over Jan term, so check with the continuing ed department at your local state college for info.
