Antibiotics are effective against bacteriological infections. HIV is a virus not a bacteria. Viruses are much more resillient and require anti-viral medications.

HIV is a retrovirus. Viruses do not respond to antibiotics, only bacterial diseases can be treated with them. Nevertheless, antibiotics are of great benefit when an AIDS patient develops complications that are caused by bacteria, like pneumonia or skin diseases.

HIV being a virus is more resistant to drugs, further all the drugs affect the surface coat of the virus. HIV's surface coat protein mutates very rapidly and hence the human defence cells and anti bodies cant bind to the surface.. that is they are always one generation behind.. since the drugs arent able to bind, its action cannot be achieved.

It cannot be controlled with antibiotics because it's a virus. Only bacterial infections can be helped with antibiotics.
