Should I apologise for the British Colonial Empire and the Vichy Regime?

In answer to the question "Are there Muslims living in all areas of France?" User LadyOwen2001 asked if she should apologise for the British colonial empire and the Vichy Regime. I think she should. Certainly if members of her direct ascendence were involved in the heinous crimes commited by both. I've put her question to a wider audience to guage public opinion.

Hell no, why should anyone apologise for something they didn't do?!

People who think that modern people need to apologise for something their ancestors may or may not have taken part in a long time ago need to relax and get over that chip that's on their shoulder.
