Dentists: dental polyps..?

i have a little polyp just right after the last tooth on my upper jaw. it grows out of the gums. it doesn't hurt but could it be soemthing dangerous?

Update:

just go to a dentist and get the x-ray picture. It's pretty weird that there is a gingival (gum) inflammation without pain. Maybe it's chronic. Is the adjacent tooth decay?? (and you had felt pain before)maybe the bacteria is from there. But, it's better to check it first so that the dentist could eliminate the etiologic factor
