'The Pit and the Pendulum' and 'Tell Tale Heart' are short stories, NOT poems.

His most famous poem is 'The Raven'. It's about someone reading a book and thinking about a lover (Lenore, I recall) who has died. The raven makes him think of Lenore and he feels upset and lost without her.

Another famous poem by Poe is 'Annabel Lee'. Like 'The Raven' it is about a beautiful woman, a love, who has been taken from him. Therefore, we can see that a common theme to Poe's work is loneliness and isolation. There is a strong sense of loss and missing in Poe's work, and this follows what we know of him - an estranged and melancholic man.

    The Raven and The Bells

The Raven is noted for its musicality, stylized language and supernatural atmosphere, it tells of the mysterious visit of a talking raven to a distraught lover, tracing the lover's slow descent into madness.

The Bells can be interpreted in many different ways, the most simple of which is simply a reflection of the sounds that bells can make, and the emotions evoked from that sound.

The Raven and Annabel Lee. The first is about the nothingness of life ad the second about pure love.
