Anybody with a clue as to how a telephone call duration counter can be designed?

And any possible components to use in such a project

Most phones these days have these. Im pretty sure any caller ID phone will have this built in. If not just attach a stopwatch to the phone.

Get a phone and take it apart. See how it works. Then figure it out.
