Why do religions feel the need to recruit people through blood and violence?

And yes that includes Christianity and Islam...

Don't you think that if your message could stand on its own, people would convert voluntarily?

Yes, I am aware that christians don't do that anymore, but hey that's how they got most of their members....

Why is that Atheists kill so many millions of people? Yes they do.

    Stalin was an Atheist

    Hitler was an Atheist

    Pol Pot was an Atheist

    Idi Amin was Atheist

You see you cant generalize. It looks bad.

It is not so much that the 'word' is spread by the 'sword', but it is a great analogy.

Both sides of this are just as guilty, and some of the Christian 'feelings of distrust' go all the way back to the Muslim conquest of Spain in 711 C.E. That invading force stayed in Spain for 700 years and the Spanish Inquisition was originally founded to get rid of the last Muslims in Spain after the Treaty of Granada.

Source(s): Neither side is free of the stain of death and both sides are very free to 'cast the first stone'. The message is essentially a good one if you remove the extraneous stuff and go with just the message itself. It is 'Pride' that stands in the way of us getting beyond this basic stupidity that exists between those two groups.

because reason, and intelligence is lacking in all people,so violence is the only thing we understand, every religion no matter which one you choose, as at some time used violence to gain members,as all religions teach fear, retribution,do you think if there is a god/it would create all this universe,to have people fight and kill,in its name, must be a very strange god that would gain satisfaction from that, and they say were are the most intelligent beings on this planet.and we are the standard bearers for the human race,if just say beings from another planet did come here how would put a case forward for the human race, because if they didn't believe our way of life we would kill them, sad really/religion remember south Africa you know that richest African country, most are believers in Christianity, but it is depend ant on your co lour, same belief, same bible, even have a black minister tutu who dressed in all his robes, now that is very strange, and the world stood by and let it happen, even Christianity,we bury our heads when it suits/we still pray to this god,on a Sunday morning,if one is content to quell the fires with petroleum, then the answer/question will always be why.

the only stage left for us is total distruction,of the planet.and the sooner it happens the better.we really are very sad people

Yes I was a peaceful Atheist until Pat Roberts and his gang kicked down my door and murdered my parents. I was taken to a reeducation camp, tortured, and forced to be Christian. Now I am an active member of the Collective.

Fear is their greatest weapon. They feel justified in killing if it is in gods name and religion has only been used to crusade since the beginning of religion. HITLER WAS A CHRISTIAN and anyone who does not accept this is denying history. Christians are still doing this and if you do not believe this than look at what GWB is doing and he believes he is doing gods work. These are words straight from his mouth Words that again will be denied and lied about to future generations

    We don't.

People often get so wrapped up in daily life that they ignore the eternal, so the message should not be judged by the number of converts.

This is a myth, and those who practice this are not on guidance from God.

The Qu'ran says regarding this topic,

    No Compulsion in Religion

    Allah said,

    [لاَ إِكْرَاهَ فِى الدِّينِ]

(There is no compulsion in religion), meaning, "Do not force anyone to become Muslim, for Islam is plain and clear, and its proofs and evidence are plain and clear. Therefore, there is no need to force anyone to embrace Islam. Rather, whoever Allah directs to Islam, opens his heart for it and enlightens his mind, will embrace Islam with certainty. Whoever Allah blinds his heart and seals his hearing and sight, then he will not benefit from being forced to embrace Islam.''

    Please understand!

Because blood and violence are real and can be touched and held in your hands. And when you can physically hold it in your hands that's power and that's what everyone is looking for. Faith is good but when you can connect faith with something physical it solidifies your beliefs and restores your faith.
