They have. You as a voter (min age 18) are supposed to educate yourself in order to make the proper decision. Also just because you got a pretty piece of paper from some "reputable" college, saying you earned a degree in interpretive dance, or fine arts, doesn't mean you'd be more qualified than a self educated person. Finally our government was founded on capitalism (limited involvement), if you feel better having someone with a piece of sheepskin in office that's your choice, if not, that's also your choice...that's what America is all about.

It would take a constitutional amendment to do that.

The U.S. Constitution already has set up "minimum qualifications" for serving as a member of Congress. Those qualifications are exhaustive. We cannot add more qualifications with any kind of statute; we'd have to amend the Constitution to add more qualifications.

It is not necessary, we all are politician in potency. If you are a good speaker, and are well considered in your community, you do good things for them, have charisma, sing up in the political party you like, and start working, it doesn't matter what you are. With their help, you have started a political career. Now you need your community votes, and now you are on your way.

Anybody can do it, and this has worked for years. So why is the government going to mess with this?

Sorry, but this is how it works.

    Anyway i agree with you.

Oh God, try a country like mine (Poland), we've got people with unfinished highschool diplomas, convictions etc. There is always some part of the population, usually hicks and the uneducated who like the empty promises made by wannabe politicians of the worst kind and...they get elected and get their armed cars and body guards and then it is impossible to rip them away from the trough!

We should also make them wear all the company logos on their suits that they take money from. (Think Nascar).

Whatever the bottom line is, the bottom line is always money.
