The Cockney accent is to the English accent as _____ is to the American accent?

    The Bronx? Some portion of New York, certainly, and one with a distinctive working class flavor. Brooklyn would be too large a region, I think, to correspond.

    the Cockney accent is only in one part of England

    Maybe some sort of gang accent (I'm not sure that makes sense). How about a Brooklyn accent?
