Family members often gather together in the livingroom on the night before Christmas, which is commonly called Christmas Eve. They surround the Christmas tree, singing carols, exchanging gifts, sharing their feelings of the year, and express their blessings and love from their heart. On the night, we can see boys and girls singing carols from house to house with guitars in their hands. What is the origin of the activites of chiors?
On the night Jesus was born, shepherds who were watching their sheeps on the field, suddenly heard a voice from the sky, telling them the good news of Jesus' birth. According to the Bible, Jesus was to be the king of human kind, so the angels spread the news by the shephards to let everyone know. Subsequently, people imitated the angels, and spead the news of Jesus' birth on Christmas Eve. Until nowadays, the chiors had become an essential ativity on Chrsitmas.
Usually a chior is formed with around 20 youths, a group of little girls in costume og angels, and a Santa Claus. After nine o'clock on Christmas Eve, they start to sing carols from house to house. Whenever they visit a family, they'll sing a few carols which are fimiliar with everyone. Then the little angels will read out loud from the Bible, telling the family that this night is the birth of Jesus. After that, they'll pray and sing a few carols together, then the generous Santa Claus with send gifts to the living room of the family, and the activity is over!
The activities last until 4 o'clock in the morning of Christmas.
