What is your take on this verse in the Book of Luke?

"For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

" For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes." Luke 6: 43, 44

We are the tree. We are to bear fruit.

Christ is returning for a harvest.

First off... consider the REST of that passage (known as 'A Tree and its Fruit"; Luke 6: 43-45) A good man brings forth the goodness of his heart, an evil man brings forth only the evil stored in his heart....

Some might say in a twisted way that you were never any better than your parents and perhaps the tribe you came from.

This however, is not the case.... If anything it is that your CHILDREN would be no better than you taught them.

Source(s): This Chapter of Luke centers around the town of Capernaum on the NE side of Galilee where Jesus held his ministries among the people there. This is also where he recruits four of his disciples; Simon, Andrew, John, and James. The time frame is arguably the only year of his actual ministry prior to the crucifixion. Read the Bible but remember not only WHEN it happened but what verses are tied to one another. The New Testament is NOT the actual words of Christ, but a compilation of what people around him wrote in the following 75-125 years.

Jesus was comparing false religion to the true religion. At Matthew 7:15-21 he said this___"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves. By their fruits ye shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but the corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Therefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven."

The true followers of Jesus will produce good "fruits" and what are they? Galatians 5:22-23 answers that for us---"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law."

A Catholic Abbot is the father of genetics and he made plant grafting possible.

Plant grafting takes the branch of good fruit tree and puts it into the branch of a bad fruit tree in an effort to make the bad tree generate good fruit.

    It works.

To me, it means that a good person will teach their children to be good and a bad person will teach their children to be bad. Everyone is known for their work. A bad person will not work to gather things they need.

Sorry, but why do people have to have personal interpretations and "takes" on scripture? These words are claimed to be from a divine source, one that's intelligent enough to make the message clear even 2000 years later. My take is that it's like the Rorschach test. So . . . fluffy trees.

To me this means that a true believer will have evidence of his belief and trust in God (fruit).

I can be blessed children, finances, ministry, health... but evidence of their life in God.

Jesus Christ was talking about the actions of a true person of God. The rest is common sence.
