Because your body is still producing the hormones that tell it to go through the menstrual cycle.

There is no rule that says you ovulate from your left ovary and then your right and then again from your left. One ovary could be doing all the work, and it just so happens that its the one that's remaining.

Or it could be (like with brain injuries) that the remaining ovary took over the duties of the missing counterpart.

The only way you would not have a period would be if you were missing both ovaries.

Its because even if you only have one ovary the ovary will still produce eggs each month. so if there is only one ovary it means that there will still be an egg being released, resulting in a period still taking place.

Your body has been making eggs ever since you started developing. There are a lot of eggs in one ovary! You usually only release one egg a month so you still have a lot more to go after that. Once your body has made the right amount of eggs, that is when it will allow you to get your first period.

When you start your period, only one ovary is active. That ovary is the only ovary that is active from that point out.

Because you still have 1 ovary and 1 egg is all it takes..

Source(s): PS: you can also still have a period and NOT ovulate..It sucks..

Because you are still ovulating every month. Doesn't matter if you have one or two ovaries.
