Why are some lemons and limes get so hard for awhile?

I would like to get your tips and how top to prevent them from getting hard as balls. I put them in the fruit basket and sometimes I put them in the refrigerator.

Keep them in the fridge. They're drying out. Also, store them in a plastic bag to help keep the moisture in. They should last for a month that way.

Also, when you buy them, make sure they feel heavy for their size. That way, you're getting the freshest ones.

put them in a brown paper bag on the shelf to make them ripe.
