chalazion-risk for squamous cell cancer?
- 1 decade agoFavorite Answer
A chalazion is a slowly enlarging nodule on the eyelid formed by inflammation of the meibomian glands (deep chalazion) or Zeis sebaceous glands (superficial chalazion). Chalazia are often recurrent.
Its is not a risk but some diseases and conditions may masquerade as a chalazion such as sebaceous carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, microcystic adnexal carcinoma, or tuberculosis. (especially in the elderly)..Source(s): http://www.emedicine.com/emerg/topic94.htm
