Can Christianity, Judiasm and Islam truly co-exist equally?

Update:

There are similar doctrines, but Christians believe Jesus is the son of God (or God for that matter), Muslims believe he was prophet, and Jews believe he was an ordinary man (if he ever existed at all).

They co-exist now and have for thousands of years. Perhaps a better way of phrasing the question would have been to ask do they co-exist well? That has been and probably always will be debatable.

They all share the same Abraham, Time magazine did a story on this a couple of years ago that was very interesting.

    No.

I didn't know that Jews consider Jesus an ordinary man. How can they deny his Prophet hood?? Are you sure?Anyway, followers of the religions are the ones who can't get along, not the religions themselves. All of them believe in the same God, but it is the interpretations that vary. Muslims believe the Bible was altered, Christians think Muslims are mislead....etc. So, it is the people.

YES, the three religions can co-exist together equally, as happened during the Jewish Golden Age in Andalusia under Muslim rule, and in the Levant under various Muslims empires. All these sadly came to an end when invaders came and break up the empire and its people. When Queen Isabella of Spain ruled, she expelled thousands of her Muslim and Jewish subjects and killed those who wouldn't leave their homes. And when the Westerners came to rule the Levant, they partitioned Palestine into two without the consent of the natives -one for the Arabs and one for the Jews. Apparently the Jews were given two-thirds of the land (which were fertile) and the Arabs were given one-third of Palestine (which were almost like waste lands and bordering deserts).

In short, I do hope all religions and its adherents can co-exist everywhere in the world.

they can if other religions dont impose their beliefs on others. Mainly because ethnocentricism we have a tendency that Christianity and Judaism is acceptable, but because what is done to muslim women and children seems inhuman to us (which may be inhuman) is part of their culture, We base everything on our culture and tend to have a culture clash when we see or experience drastic diffrences. I believe that is is possible, for all of us to co exist equally , I do also believe that this will come only after many hundreds of years.

Existance is about survival of the fittest, not 'equality'. the concept of altruism contavenes evolution and dynastic inheritance and the passing on of traditional customs to successive generations.

It is human nature to elevate oneself to positions of power in order to survive, thrive and assert our cultural heritage. Tribal affinity kicks in and people care only about their families, not those that they differ from.

You've been watching too much Oprah.

They co-exist now. They won't co-exist forever though, because one day Christ will return and that will be the end of all other religions; everyone will be Christian then.

The Religions are One; it's the leaders of the Religions that keep them apart.

no reason why they coukldn't but as long as capitalism is an accepted economic system merchants will be fighting over resources and using religion to justify what they are doing.
