I have a 2004 V-Star 650. why do I have to take the pipes off to change the oil?

I added Hard Khrome pipes and there in the way

    A real marvel of engineering genius...

    Look into a oil filter relocating kit. It'll pay for itself in a very short time.

    I used to work at a Yamaha dealership and of course the first time a new owner would bring in his bike for an oil change there was always sticker shock when we handed him the bill. Thank Yamaha engineers for putting the oil filter behind the exhaust pips.

    The stock item is in the way, too. The exhaust blocks access to the oil filter.
