don't feel like putting up tree,or decorating?

no real reason, just tired of all the running around anyone else having trouble today with this? I've turned on the Xmas music to see if it will help get me in the mood??

Update:

Thanks everyone. I am going to get a small tree today and have my neice/nephew help me decorate it, my son is 13, and doesn't want to help this year.

Merry Xmas to all of you, I am going to look into the local shelter to see if I can help.

Most Christmas Holidays I go through what they call holiday depression. It happens to a lot of people for different reasons. I will share that one of my reasons is my mother passed during the Christmas Holidays. I finally put up a tree and some lights even though I was not really into it, however it has helped a little with some of the blues. I have tried the music, decorations and all sorts of things without success. What I find that really helps in getting involved with an agency I can help and this takes the focus of my problems. So my plans is to volunteer with a Veteran's Service Group during the holidays. Nothing can be more rewarding then helping another and in doing so your holiday will be brighter for you. .........Happy Holidays

Source(s): I am one person who feels the same as you, so each year I have to find a way to get through this holiday.

It isn't compulsory. If you feel like decorating, then go for it. If you don't, then enjoy what other people have done. Go for a walk in the evening and see what some of your neighbors' homes look like. Then go home, listen to some Christmas music, or watch one of the Christmas shows on TV, and just enjoy the season. Sometimes it all gets a little much, with all the running around and trying to get things done, and the Christmas spirit evaporates through sheer fatigue. One thing that will help you, though, is to volunteer at a homeless shelter, or a food kitchen, or wrapping gifts for distribution to poor children. There are volunteer agencies in every city who are crying for volunteers. That's a wonderful way to share Christms spirit, and you'd be surprised at how energizing it is.

    Merry Christmas to you....

Been there done that. In 1980 I was having one of those and everyone insisted I do the tree. Guess they thought it would help but it did not still since I did it alone I thought it was a great tree. The next year they wanted an encore. When everyone else was out I went up to the barn and brought that same tree down and took the plastic off, re arranged the ornaments that moved and waited. Needless to say no one has asked me again. It is once again up in the barn carefully covered, as am I

We've decided to scale down Christmas this time around, because it has been a very difficult year for us both emotionally and physically. Noone says you HAVE to have an 8 foot real tree or scads of decorations. We put up one set of lights around our front windows, and that's it. I'll probably drag out a 12" musical tree on Christmas Eve to put gifts under, but that's about all we are doing.

There is no law that says you must decorate for Christmas. This season is a time of high stress, unreasonable demands and numerous disappointments. Who wants to decorate for that?

Oh Em Gee, I think it is the weather. In our state, it is about 60 degrees right now. No one can really get into the Christmas mood with 60 degree weather.

IF YOU'RE NOT IN THE MOOD AND IF YOU DON'T HAVE CHILDREN, DON'T PUT UP ANY DECORATIONS. IT'S HARD WORK PUTTING UP AND TAKING DOWN.JUST HANG A WREATH ON THE DOOR. I WILL SAY IF YOU HAVE SMALL CHILDREN MAKE YOURSELF PUT UP A TREE.
