during the current NW storm, what happens to Amtrak service?

(I have a friend who left on the Empire Builder train Thursday bound for Montana). How can I check delays and / or safety of the trip?

Call Amtrack or go to their website. They are pretty good at keeping their information updated. If you put in the train number on thier website and it comes up that they do not have any information of you, you best bet is going to be to call them and talk to an actual agent.
